Water with added value: GROHE Blue Home as a sustainable and convenient alternative to bottled water
Düsseldorf, September 22, 2025 – Not all water is the same – even subtle nuances can change its taste. In a representative survey conducted in seven countries, 72% of respondents claim they drink tap water. Among those who avoid it, 45% say they don't like the taste (1). But what happens when the water is treated with a water system that uses filters and carbon dioxide? To find out, GROHE partnered with a renowned German testing and analysis institute to conduct a double-blind study on sparkling water. In the study, 60 participants tasted carbonated water from two mains-fed water systems as well as from glass and PET bottles of eight brands. Neither the participants nor the testers knew which water they were evaluating (“double-blind”). The result: in all ten taste categories, the water from the GROHE Blue Home water system achieved high scores.
An invigorating refreshment from the kitchen tap
The participants rated the water across all taste categories on a ten-point scale – for example, “refreshing” from “not refreshing at all” (1) to “absolutely refreshing” (10). The water from GROHE Blue Home stood out in six dimensions: More than three-quarters of participants found the water refreshing (90%), thirst-quenching (88%), invigorating/vitalizing (87%), with a pleasant fizz (80%), not salty (80%), and neutral (77%). Almost as many found the water to be fine-pearly and light (73%) and sparkling (70%), while more than half considered it to be soft (63%).
The GROHE Blue Home water system used a GROHE Blue Magnesium + Zinc filter, which removes impurities, flavors, and odors from tap water in five stages, reduces substances such as lime and heavy metals, and adds magnesium and zinc.
Sustainable, convenient alternative to bottled water
The taste test proves it: the GROHE Blue Home water system scores highly in taste compared to carbonated water from glass and PET bottles – without the hassle of lugging crates around, returning deposits, and the CO2 emissions caused by the production and transport of bottled water. It delivers up to three liters of filtered, chilled, and sparkling water per hour, with adjustable levels of carbonation. For larger user groups of up to 40 people, such as in offices, the GROHE Blue Professional water system is designed with a capacity of twelve liters per hour.
